Gus Hansen experienced a wonderful year on the WPT where he was the only gambler to achieve last game in 3 of the tournaments. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on The Game Show Network where he bought into the game for $400, 000. You may remember one of the biggest pots in high stakes poker history up against Daniel Negreanu. Gus raked in a massive pot with quads against Daniel’s full house. Hansen has made many tv poker appearances and is deemed to be one of the best enthusiasts anywhere in the world. While competing in web poker, a different side of Hansen has been seen. He frequently plays in the 200/400 NL maximum buy-in of $40, 000. Hansen more often than not buys in for the minimum of $16, 000 and gambles very weak. He waits for a decent hand and then goes all in. I believe Hansen is a great poker player but certainly not even close to the everyday players at 200/400no limit. Unless Gus is flat broke, he has absolutely no reason to sit at the table with the min buy in.
Playing for the minimum takes most of the expertise out of deep stack poker. Gus is supposed to be 1 of the best players anywhere in the world but he can’t buy in for the full amt.. I believe television can alter our view of the real world sometimes. The greatest poker players in the world might be guys you have never heard of before. Gus can be found betting on net poker on Full Tilt. He generally competes in big stakes omaha hold’em and texas holdem. Gus has shown himself as a tournament player. Can he use his skills in money rounds?
