Poker has become globally famous recently, with televised competitions and celebrity poker game events. Its popularity, though, stretches back quite a bit further than its TV ratings. Over the years several variants on the original poker game have been created, including a few games that are not really poker anymore. Caribbean stud poker is 1 of these particular games. Despite the name, Caribbean stud poker is most closely resembling blackjack than traditional poker, in that the players wager against the dealer rather than the other players. The winning hands, are the long-standing poker hands. There is no concealment or other types of boondoggle. In Caribbean stud poker, you are required to ante up before the dealer saying "No further wagers." At that instance, both you and the dealer and of course every one of the other gamblers receive five cards. After you have observed your hand and the casino’s first card, you must in turn make a call bet or surrender. The call wager’s amount is on same level to your original wager, indicating that the stakes will have increased two fold. Abandoning means that your wager goes immediately to the dealer. After the wager is the face off. If the bank does not have ace/king or better, your bet is returned, with an amount on par with the initial wager. If the house does have ace/king or greater, you win if your hand beats the bank’s hand. The casino pays out chips equal to your initial bet and fixed odds on your call bet. These odds are:

  • Even for a pair or high card
  • 2-1 for two pairs
  • 3-1 for three of a kind
  • four to one for a straight
  • five to one for a flush
  • 7-1 for a full house
  • twenty to one for a 4 of a kind
  • 50-1 for a straight flush
  • one hundred to one for a royal flush
