Online poker has become globally famous lately, with televised championships and celebrity poker game events. Its popularity, though, stretches back in fact a bit further than its TV ratings. Over the years several variations on the original poker game have been created, including a few games that are not in fact poker anymore. Caribbean stud poker is one of these particular games. Despite the name, Caribbean stud poker is more closely resembling chemin de fer than traditional poker, in that the players wager against the casino instead of the other players. The winning hands, are the traditional poker hands. There is no bluffing or other kinds of bamboozlement. In Caribbean stud poker, you are required to ante up prior to the dealer declares "No more wagers." At that point, both you and the bank and of course all of the different players acquire five cards each. Once you have looked at your hand and the bank’s initial card, you have to either make a call wager or bow out. The call bet’s amount is equal to your beginning wager, which means that the risks will have increased two fold. Bowing out means that your ante goes immediately to the dealer. After the wager is the face off. If the bank doesn’t have ace/king or better, your wager is returned, plus a figure on par with the original bet. If the house does have ace/king or better, you succeed if your hand defeats the bank’s hand. The house pony’s up cash even with your bet and set odds on your call wager. These odds are:
- Equal for a pair or high card
- 2-1 for 2 pairs
- three to one for 3 of a kind
- four to one for a straight
- five to one for a flush
- 7-1 for a full house
- 20-1 for a 4 of a kind
- fifty to one for a straight flush
- one hundred to one for a royal flush
